**Summary of Reply** – Doran and
Horst have raised questions about the choice of values for deposition velocity
used in our model. Their analysis
implies that we have used values that would overestimate deposition and in some
cases, exceed a theoretical maximum they derived. The deposition velocity is a
way of parameterizing a multiplicity of complex processes that govern the
removal of material. …. Thus, at no time can DH’s equations 3-6 describe the
situation in our lowest box and so the existence of a theoretical maximum value
for the effective deposition velocity under the assumptions leading to Equation
7 is not relevant to our case.
