Abstract - The Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (RAMS) is applied at the NOAA Air Resources Laboratory (ARL) to support air quality research and operational emergency response requirements. This document describes the version of RAMS used at ARL and the enhancements made to run RAMS operationally. The methodology to configure, initialize, and run ARL-RAMS in three dimensions with four-dimensional data assimilation on a UNIX workstation is summarized. The available graphical and statistical packages used at ARL for post-processing RAMS analyses are also reviewed. A two-dimensional version of the ARL-RAMS package was created to run several simulations concurrently, and this system is also described.
