A Summary of Recent Atmospheric Diffusion Experiments

NOAA Technical Memorandum ERL ARL-78, April 1979

Abstract - Most diffusion experiments conducted in recent years were performed n areas with complex topography or meteorology: near shoreline environments, over rough and complex terrain, above and within forest canopies, and over urban areas.  Other experiments were designed to investigate dispersion under low wind speed conditions, or transport and dispersion over long distances.  The experimental results in each category are discussed and the dispersion data are illustrated in a summary diagram.  When possible, the dispersion data are compared to calculated values from predictive methods developed for homogeneous terrain or to methods developed by the experiment authors.
